Can a Trip be Ended by Timeout?

What is “Idling”?

"Idling" is starting a trip and not putting the vehicle in motion, either at all or after some period of continuous riding. To prevent situations when a bike or a scooter gets abandoned the idle timeout is set.

Idle Timeout

If a vehicle doesn't move for too long the trip ends automatically.

The timeout can be triggered in the following situations:

  • during the ride start: when a trip is started but the vehicle has not been moved.
  • during the active ride: the vehicle has been moved but was stopped later.
  • when a vehicle is offline: in rare cases a vehicle can go offline due to possible technical issues. If the problem persists the trip is ended automatically within an hour.

Dott's idle timeout period is:

  • 10 minutes for an active ride
